GSTIN, CIN, PAN, Udyam and IEC on your company profile: what to show
Buyers often copy registration numbers straight from your profile into their systems. A single wrong character can delay vendor registration or payments, so present them clearly and check them carefully.
What each number looks like
| Number | Who has it | Format |
|---|---|---|
| GSTIN | GST-registered businesses | 15 characters: 2-digit state code, 10-character PAN, entity number, “Z”, check character (e.g. 24ABCDE1234F1Z5) |
| PAN | Every taxpayer | 10 characters: 5 letters, 4 digits, 1 letter (e.g. ABCDE1234F) |
| CIN | Companies | 21 characters (e.g. U28100MH2009PTC123456) |
| LLPIN | Limited liability partnerships | 3 letters, a hyphen and 4 digits (e.g. AAB-1234) |
| Udyam | Registered MSMEs | UDYAM-XX-00-0000000 |
| IEC | Importers and exporters | 10 characters |
The example numbers above are formats only, not real registrations.
Where to place them
Put all registration numbers together on the contact page, below the address, in a small table with clear labels. Repeat the GSTIN on quotations and invoices, not on every page of the profile.
Check before sending
- The PAN inside your GSTIN (characters 3–12) should match your PAN.
- The first two digits of the GSTIN are your state code — check they match your registered state.
- Use capital letters throughout.
- Show only numbers you are comfortable sharing publicly.
DocMak converts these fields to capitals, checks the GSTIN format and check character, matches PAN with GSTIN, and warns you about likely typing mistakes — without blocking you.

Frequently asked questions
Should I show my PAN on a company profile?
It is common for businesses to show it for vendor registration, but share only what you are comfortable making public. GSTIN already contains your PAN.
How can I check if my GSTIN is typed correctly?
A GSTIN has 15 characters and ends in a check character calculated from the first 14. DocMak checks this automatically and warns you if it does not match.
